Saw II

The reason for this specific horror movie being listed here is quite simple. It’s unexpectedly good despite the gore in every second of the movie, as well as unpredictably satisfying despite the spiral in every minute of the movie. As compared to other movies in the Saw franchise by – yes, the same ones who also created box-office hit Insidious – James Wan and Leigh Whannell (Adam from the first movie), Saw II practically brought out the best in what seems to be the worst in John Kramer a.k.a. Jigsaw.

You see, for him, life is a precious thing – even for who are diagnosed with terminal ailments like himself. But you also see, for him, life is an unfair thing – especially for those who are wasted with terminal vices like them: the victims of Jigsaw’s live-or-die traps. Then again, you need to watch the movie to see what we’re talking about here.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Sure, this is just another horror movie that took the world by storm back in the day. But when you see it, we’re sure you’ll see bricks – no thanks to the kind of fear Leatherface himself can give you for nights and probably years. The way it was filmed, gore and everything in between, is simply one that couldn’t be forgotten that easily.

One great thing about it, though, is its aesthetic – just enough to make every viewer get scared like heck, as well as inclined to know more about what would happen next (if the protagonists will survive, if the antagonist will die, etc.).
